2. A National Moratorium on All School Closings, Turnarounds, phase-outs and charter expansion.
Rally at CPS and March to City Hall
3. TIF Funds and a Financial Transaction Tax for Education NOW!
4. The Resignation of Arne Duncan as U.S. Secretary of Education.

5. Our Proposal for Sustainable School Transformation to replace corporate top-down interventions for struggling schools.

This boycott is a show of the people’s strength. Parents, students and community organizations have pleaded with CPS to stop destabilizing our schools. We have made alternative, research driven proposals only to realize that they are not listening to us. When our schools have improved; and CPS has closed them. We have the right to send our children to excellent schools in our own neighborhood.
Parents have pleaded with an appointed school board that has, year after year, forced bad education policy down the public’s throat. It is taxation without representation and enough is truly enough. We need an elected, representative school board now. On August 28th the people of Chicago enter a vote of NO CONFIDENCE in the appointed school board and demand that Springfield passes legislation to create an elected school board in Chicago. On this day, EVERYONE should meet at 125 S. Clark. While we are showing our strength in Chicago, similar demonstrations are happening in:

What We Want
1. AN ELECTED, REPRESENTATIVE SCHOOL BOARD NOW!
2. Our schools re-opened with appropriate resources!
3. LSC led Accountability Committees in each community to monitor quality of education in our schools and hold CPS accountable.
4. Sustainable School Transformation to replace current intervention strategies for struggling schools.
5. AMP status for all schools. We must be ineligible for closing, turn-around or phase out for 7 years.
6. TIF Funds and a financial transaction tax utilized to adequately and equitably fund education in CPS.
