Indictment Watch
This action page serves to list tips, articles, and actions to help you stay informed, safe, and activated once the indictment news is released.
YOUR THOUGHTS: ACTIONS YOU THINK THE COMMUNITY SHOULD TAKE…
- Be the Moral Movement for Human Rights! Be the true #BeyondFerguson …Lets never be silent or forget the need to speak and stand for Human Rights forever!!!!!!!
- I think we should do the same things that we would do if he is NOT indicted. An indictment is just the beginning. We need to be in the streets, at the table, and in the faces of community members and leaders alike because we have to fix some things.
- Keep the pressure on them to help the community heal and repair and regain trust.
- Continue to change law enforcement. Continue to fight for civil rights. Continue to progress towards police demilitarization. Continue to educate everyone about racial climates in the United States.
- Demand his arrest. Demand Governor Jay Nixon to speak on why he was silent to the thousands of questions pertaining to the leaks of the grand jury.
- LEARN from our experience. - Keep momentum - Get this issue in the classrooms – empower educators at all levels (elementary, middle, secondary, and post-secondary) to encourage discussion and promote student engagement in community issues. Particularly WashU, where it is all too easy for students (I’m speaking as an alum) to be disengaged and “in the WashU bubble.” I think informing students of the issues, even and especially outsiders, and allowing them to engage with these issues will strengthen collaborative efforts.
- I think a nice community picnic and prayer meeting would be sufficient. Violence begets violence.
- Take the case to the Department of Justice and ultimately, hopefully, the Supreme Court! Also, take it nationally to the people!
- We have to protest. And we have to protect our babies, our elderly, and our young people on the frontlines. But even more, we’ve got to act. How? I don’t know yet, but we gotta do something.
- Riots at the level that happened when police were not charged for the beating of Rodney King.
- Go to the capital. Go to Governor’s office. Twitter Storm Obama.
- Same as if he IS indicted – but I think there will be more of a need to be proactive in terms of 1) actions that get at REAL policy change WITHIN the system we currently have (slow, long-term efforts) while supporting 2) efforts, collaborations, and community efforts that provide valid alternatives to the current system we have.
- A nice community picnic and prayer meeting is sufficient in this case as well. More violence won’t bring Mr. Brown back to life.
