November 3 – Stand Your Ground Community Call >> rsvp: http://bit.ly/sygrsvp
November 7 – Stand Your Ground Hearing >> 3pm, Webster hall, 212 knot, fl state capitol
November 3rd to November 8th will be a huge week for those watching stand your ground legislation in the state of Florida. Stand your ground laws give an individual the right to use deadly force without being seriously threatened. It is a piece of American legislative exchange council (ALEC) model legislation that exists in some form in 31 states. As long as stand your ground legislation is in place, our communities remain unsafe.
On November 7th, young people from all over Florida will testify at a house hearing on stand your ground, vocalizing their discontent with the legislation. The house can no longer sit complacent while innocent people are victimized by ‘stand your ground’.
Join in the campaign by calling the chair and vice chair of the house criminal justice subcommittee and tell them dangerous and reckless legislation will not be tolerated by the citizens of Florida.

Dream defenders has maintained from the start that a true repeal of stand your ground is needed to make our communities safer. If a full repeal is not possible, we support the best reform possible. We will examine and recommend changes to reform legislation with respect to legitimate concerns.
We are hosting a call to invite our communities to participate in a dialogue about stand your ground and shed perspectives on the law and it’s implications. The call will take place on Sunday, November 3rd at 7:30 p.m. If you are interested in calling in you can rsvp for the call http://bit.ly/sygrsvp
If you are in or can make it to Tallahassee on November 7th for the stand your ground house hearing, help us #packthehouse and show the fl legislators that Florida citizens want to protect their communities from stand your ground.[/fusion_builder_column]
